Personal Statement
I'm a 2020 high school grad, currently attending Nyack College in NYC on an NCAA Division 2 soccer scholarship. I am in the NCAA transfer portal and have Nyack's release to transfer elsewhere for the fall of 2021. During my first semester of college, I took 12 credit hours and earned a 4.0 GPA. I'm taking another 12 credits this spring.
TEN THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT ME:
-
I'm coachable. I want to grow, be developed, and be coached hard. -
I'm versatile. In club and HS soccer, I played nearly every position on the field other than center back. I excelled as a left outside back and left outside mid and as an attacking mid. Several of my HS & club coaches disagree on my best fit in the college game. Some love me as an outside back in a modern system, where I can play from box-to-box, overlapping, and creating offensive opportunities. Others thought I was a natural 10 and gifted at attacking and creating opportunities in the final third. -
I'm generally one of the most fit players on the pitch, have a high work rate, and possess the conditioning to play the entire game, even as an outside midfielder. -
I'm a team-first guy who loves the game and LOVES being part of a team. I believe in making sacrifices for the good of the team and that team success is so much better than personal success. -
I'm a Christian who's looking for a strong Christian school where I can find Christian community and develop friendships that will help me grow in my faith. I know that there are very few "Christian" soccer teams, but I do value a college where I can find friends off the pitch who will challenge me to grow in my faith and prefer a place where I'm not the only Christian in the locker room. -
I dream of being a college soccer coach and using soccer as a "gateway to the Gospel." I'm interested in potentially coaching soccer in another country or in urban areas here in the US where many kids don't have access to club soccer because of finances. -
I believe great chemistry and togetherness create a winning culture and often precede winning. I'd rather lose with my brothers than win with a group of guys who don't like each other. -
I'm super competitive and hate losing. I'm looking for a program that values both camaraderie and togetherness AND winning. -
I value off-season work & development. I love to grind and work on my game (and enjoy it even more if I can train with my teammates). But ... I also want a home that understands I'm more than just a soccer player. I'm a Jesus follower who loves soccer, and my identity is not just what I do on the pitch. -
I love music and Marvel comics (the actual comics and the MCU movies) and Arsenal and the Golden State Warriors. I'm very close to my family and will be an uncle in a few months when my older brother and his wife have a new baby. I love board games and card games and hanging out with my buddies, just talking or having fun.
