Personal Statement
Scoring the winning goal in a big game or making the highlight move in a one on one situation are the things most soccer players dream of being able to do. But I'm not most players. I'm motivated by getting the tough jobs done and doing the things that most players would rather avoid like getting in dogfights for contested balls, marking a star opponent all around the field to limit their effectiveness, and making sure both the offense and defense are running smoothly and fixing them when they aren't. After a lackluster two win high school season my freshman year in 2016, my team and I came back in 2017 ready to go to war. As the sophomore starting defensive midfielder, I was tasked with setting our pace of play and helping to control activity on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. During the 2017 season we posted eleven shutouts and eleven wins and found ourselves in the district championship game. The defensive “clean sheets” are what I'm most proud that year because running the defense was my primary responsibility. This past 2018 season, our team fought through the “injury bug” early. We rebounded strongly, winning 10 games and the sectional championship.
Academically I have never had a “bad season”. I maintain a 4.18 GPA and am currently taking many college and AP classes during my junior year. I scored a 28 on the ACT at the end of my sophomore year. I will retake the test again in February of 2019 and am expecting a higher score this time around. I'm looking for a school that will challenge me academically and where I will be able to further my soccer career. My goal is to major in biology and to pursue a career in the medical field. I appreciate your interest in my NCSA profile.
