Personal Statement
Growing up I had to overcome a lot of obstacles to be where I am today. At a young age, I was diagnosed with Bruton's disease, an immune system deficiency that caused me a lot of health issues that resulted in me being smaller than my peers. This all lead to me developing a strong work ethic and determination to exceed people's perceptions of a smaller player. Through my struggles, I developed a drive to become stronger physically and a true student of the game. I built my self-confidence and skill and my passion for self-improvement has shown those around me I could be a reliable contributor to any team. I pride myself on being a natural motivator not only for myself but for my teammates as well. I believe in order for a team to succeed they need to build each other up and push each other to become better.
I set high standards for myself in soccer as well as academically. Being an athlete who has had to overcome personal health struggles led me to strive for academic excellence and desire to study nutrition and health sciences. This is why I want to be a part of a program that builds me not only as a player but also in my academia.
