My name is David Gambrah. I am a Canadian midfielder/winger born in 2004. I was set to sign for C.S. Marítimo (1st Division Portugal) U23 during the previous summer transfer window. However, the club closed the U23 squad due to relegation and financial issues.
I've had successful trials in Portugal and Spain with clubs from the first and second divisions. I’ve been involved with the U19S as well as the U23S. I've been at CD Nacional U19, C.S. Marítimo U19/U23, and CF Talavera U19/U23 (3rd Division Spain). Additionally, I was scouted and requested by Vitoria Guimaraes U19/B Team during the January (22/23) window.
I've been in Belgium since December 1st, engaging in training and trials with clubs in the first and second divisions. Before my arrival, I was presented to a couple of clubs in Belgium. Recently, I finished a trial with KV Beerschot (2nd Division), and the club is intrigued and wants to sign me. However, there's a discussion regarding budget issues. For a non-EU player to sign in Belgium, they must earn 1/3 of the average league salary, which is currently 90K Euros. They would like to see me again as they achieved promotion to the first division, meaning an increase in financial security.
I have also been presented to OHL Leuven and trained with KRC Ghent, a partner club of KAA Ghent. This led to some interest from KAA Ghent U21 due to their former U21 coach being the head coach of KRC Ghent. Additionally, I've been presented to Royal Antwerp and KVC Westerloo and monitored by PSV U21. I was also invited by Roda JC U21 to partake in a trial. However, they've informed me I can't be signed due to a similar law in the Netherlands, where players outside of the EU must earn a 350K salary to be eligible for a work permit. Furthermore, I've been invited to a Carolina Core invite-only tryout.
At the moment, I'm back in Canada and training. I'm expected to play games with SIGMA FC, one of Canada's largest developmental academies that has players all over playing professional and Division One soccer.
I’ve decided with my family that it would be best if I try to further my academic and athletic career by playing Division 1 Soccer.
