Ryan Sanchez '23 Recruiting Profile

My name is Ryan Sanchez.  I am 5'10, 160 pounds and I play both right and left back. I fell in love with the game of soccer at an early age because of  my father.  Ever since then, my dad has been by my side to help me with additional training and studying of the game to find ways that I can improve.  We have shared so many experiences together, and these are some of my best childhood memories.  I have been playing club soccer for as long as I can remember, and was part of the Development Academy (DA) program and Oregon Development Program (ODP).  I enjoy playing at a high level of competition because I feel that I benefit most from being challenged so I can learn and grow.   I was on JV Freshman year.  I made Varsity when I was a Sophomore, and became a starter on the Varsity team when I was a Junior. During the 2021 soccer season,  I helped my team win All Conference Champions for the first time in 13 years.  

I am different from other recruits because I can successfully play any defensive or midfield position.  I am great at making defensive tackles and supporting offensive attack opportunities.  I am not afraid to put the ball in the back of the net when the opportunity comes my way.  I can make plays happen by getting the ball to the right place at the right time.  I am an unselfish player who will put the needs of the team first and do whatever it takes to benefit the team.  I can be a leader when needed, but can also be a supporting team member when needed.  

I am considering a few different majors right now, but I am leaning towards Sports Management / Sports Medicine because sports have helped teach me valuable lessons that will stay with me for the rest of my life and I want to help other people see the value of sports the way I do.  I see this as a way to give back to the sports world that has given me so much.
