Personal Statement

Soccer has had a tremendous influence on who I am, the sport and my coaches have had a lasting effect on shaping my personality. Some of the most important things that you need to learn to succeed and excel on the field translate well into your personal life. Perseverance, respect, sacrifice, leadership, cooperation, giving back and being part of something bigger than yourself are traits that are part of who I am now.

I have worked with multiple groups over the years to place myself in a more challenging environment, gaining a little bit from each coach that I have had along the way. It has been an effort to put myself in the best possible environment but it has taught me to work hard and constantly look to improve myself while giving me the ability to adapt and fit in with various playing styles and positions on field. My previous coaches have complimented me on my technical ability, work rate and coachability. Leading my school team and playing with multiple groups has helped me grow in areas of leadership, I realize not only do I need to train and play hard myself but I have the responsibility to support and influence my teammates to bring their best game too. Good players look great but great players make those around them better. This attitude has helped me significantly in my ability to be successful when introduced to new playing environments and off the field in the classroom. Being able to work well with others and willingness to adapt helped significantly when I transferred school districts in high school. Playing club at a high level has taught me to rise to challenges rather than retreat when things are not going easy.

I love to spend some of my free time volunteer coaching younger players at camps and reffing. Coaching has not only given me a different perspective of the game but a whole new level of appreciation of the player management aspect.

My goal is to play collegiate soccer at a school where I can acquire my degree while being a strong contributor to my team’s success. In the future after college I look to continue to be involved with the sport working as a coach or trainer. From a players perspective I am looking for program where the coaches and players have high expectations and are as driven as I am to compete and improve. I would like to be able to finish developing my playing abilities while having an impact at the level the team needs to perform consistently at to win games and play for a championship.

"To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe."
