Personal Statement
As a high-school soccer player, I consider myself a very goal-oriented person (pardon the pun). Not only do I shoot for the stars on the field, but I do so in the classroom as well. To me, my commitment to the sport I have loved my entire life is nothing without an academic drive to complement it. Striving in both of these areas is not easy by any means, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I believe my high level of ambition and undying work ethic are what separate me from my peers and keep me from ever uttering the words “I’m bored.”
Boredom is a foreign concept to me. Between daily drills in my basement, constant visits to the high school’s field, a rigorous gym routine, nightly homework, and spending time with my friends, I’m not sure I’ve ever experienced a dull moment. “Dull” describes something that doesn’t stimulate your mind, and since every minute I’m awake is spent working to improve myself physically or mentally, I don’t think that this word applies to my life. For these reasons, I cannot stress enough how important it is to me that I play soccer at the next level, while continuing to receive a good education. I have no plans of cutting off my ambition in the 12th grade. I have spent my entire life perfecting my soccer ability and striving academically, and I want college to be no different.
