Personal Statement
My collegiate goals and aspirations consist of becoming a greater individual through university level athletics and academics. I strive to become a better person and athlete every day, and I feel that the best opportunity to become a greater athlete and an even greater person is through an outstanding collegiate academic and athletic program.
I am a highly technically skilled outside back/wingback, who will never hesitate to join in the attack. I am flexible enough to play all wide roles, being the most comfortable playing wingback in a 3-4-3 formation. My strengths include attacking and defending in 1v1 situations, crossing, and controlling the ball in tight spaces. I believe that outside backs are often overlooked, but if applied appropriately in a proper formation, can be a complete game changer. Outside backs are one of the best ways to add numbers to the attack.
I believe that I separate myself from other recruits by adding a significant atmosphere of competition to practices and games. I influence others to be more competitive by unconsciously creating friendly challenges to my teammates. I believe that this quality is difficult to find in the modern game. I also have a stronger upper body and a higher level of technical skill than the average outside back, and I excel at recognizing when to take advantage of these attributes.
In the classroom, I apply myself completely by challenging myself to be better than my fellow classmates. Not only do I excel in the classroom, I am also an active member of Gettysburg High School’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter. As a member of FBLA, I have achieved numerous awards, including the FBLA Future, Business, and Achievement awards. I have also placed 2nd in the American Legion Freedom Essay Competition and the PA Economics Entrepreneurship competition. I have 4 consecutive honor roll awards, and 7 collectively. My achievements in soccer include the PIAA District 3 Class AA Runners-up for the 2014/2015 Season, and being part of the first team in Gettysburg High School History to win a game in the annual PIAA State Soccer Tournament.
I am looking for a college that will both challenge and assist me in reaching the next level as an athlete and student. I am really excited about the potential to play soccer at the collegiate level and cant wait to get started!
