  • 2019 Sweden Showcase Tour Steven Barone Objectives To introduce and expose players to professional clubs, scouts and an elite environment in Europe, identify weaknesses and assist players in developing their game. Coached by: • Patrick Walker (Former Swedish and Norwegian Premier League, PSC Tour Coach) • Martin O’Connor (Former English Premier League player, current English Championship Scout; Bristol City) • Tom Taylor (PSC USA Director and Worldwide Player Placement) Professional Opposition on tour: Karlslund NordVärmland IFK Amal IK Arvika Kongsvinger Moss Linköping City Vasteras Video Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLm91XV4ISemRHyinIApBSAPYWNigGeKJC Key Areas to Improve and Suggestions We advise players to watch each game on YouTube so they can analyze their own performances and see how they can improve technically and tactically. 2 Individual Evaluation Form Technical/Skills: Strengths: There were times you had a good touch, which helped you set yourself up to attack. Keep working on this, as the consistency can improve, but you showed you can do it at a good level. You are good at dribbling at your opposing player! Again, keep looking to work on this, as at times it looked as if you were chasing your touch. Good attacking attributes and skill on the ball! This is key for your position! Areas for development: Need to improve your final product. Although you had some good crosses and shots, you need to be more consistent with them. You have the ability to rack up many goals and assists with the speed and attacking qualities you possess! Need to develop your first touch. A calmness and composure can help you when you are about to receive it. Ran into trouble out of control at times. Finesse and quality of your passing and shooting can develop in order to get to the next level. Tactical/Decision Making: Strengths: With your runs in behind you were a constant threat to the opposition. Keep looking to work on the timing of these runs so you can be more effective in causing a problem to the defence. You showed a good understanding of your position, both offensively and defensively. This is great, especially at a young age. Areas for development: Although you did really well to keep your width and support players on the ball, can you look to get into the box more, especially when the ball is on the other side of the field or there’s a counter attack through the middle of the park. Most of the danger you created was from wide, while this is great, the closer you can get to goal and run at players and get into advanced positions with the ball, the more threatening you will be! 3 Think about finding the pockets of space more in order to effect the outside back. This will make him get tight with you to open up space for the number 9 or 10 or make him drop off giving you time to get the ball and drive at players. Awareness of others around you can develop. Need to be scanning the field more for the defence. Physical: Strengths: You have great power and pace! This is a big positive in your game. Areas for development: While you have good fitness, you can still look to improve so you are constantly able to make forward runs and support with good depth. This is demanding, however, players with your physique and pace will be asked to make many forward runs. Look to work on your agility and coordination as you were clumsy with the ball on occasions! Psychological: Strengths: You are a polite and positive player with a good work ethic. Areas for development: Have to be more confident in your ability! Don’t let any criticism get to you and affect your game! Football at times can be demanding, especially the people and if you are easily affected by criticism it will be hard for you to play your game with confidence. You played some really tough opposition so don’t get down on yourself. You are very young with plenty of time on your side. Summary: In the opinion of the coaches then Steven was probably the best performing young player on the tour showing some great moments including a goal in the first match he played. Has good attributes in the final third at times but obviously has to still work on this area day in, day out. See the key development points above in order to go away and work on your game and surround yourself in the toughest environment locally so you can continue to progress in a positive direction. It was a pleasure seeing you progress and we look forward to seeing you again in the future. Lots of time on your side to get to the level you aspire to play at!! Well done.
