Growing up in a small rural town, it's hard to stay occupied sometimes. I turned to sports. I've tried quite a few sports, but soccer is the one that drew me in. I started playing at the age of 7 and have never stopped.
Soccer was new to my family. With my father who played baseball and football, and my mother who was a bowler, we all learned the sport together. They have been a great support to me both athletically and academically.
Soccer has taught me a lot about life. It has taught me about team work and work ethic. I have learned that hard work really does pay off-even if not right away. I have learned how to effectively work with a team who is working towards a common goal. This spills over into my academic life as well.
Although I'm not sure exactly what field of study I want to go into in college, I do have a strong interest in history and physical fitness. My goal for now is to continue working hard in high school and figure it out on the way. My ultimate goal is to be the best all around student athlete that I can be.
I have learned through my soccer career that I have some strong abilities. When I put my head to something, I know I will accomplish it. I have also learned that I thrive under pressure. It is in stressful situations that I find myself more focused on my goal. I am very much looking forward to showing my future college professors and coaches just what I can do.
