Hello Coaches, my name is Josiah Colegrove and my dream is to play soccer at the professional level. I have been playing organized soccer since I was six years old. Even when I was very young, I have been recognized as a very good soccer player. In my first year in AYSO Soccer a coach gave me the nickname Little Beckham. Ever since I started playing I always dreamed of playing at the highest level possible. I started to become more serious about getting better at soccer in my freshman year of High School. My coach at the time, Jared Hill, who played college soccer in Alabama, saw great potential in me and he encouraged me to strive for my goals. Even today I still use his influence to help me train and get better in both the physical and mental aspect of the game. I not only have the ambition to play at the highest level that I can but also to be able to coach at the highest level. I have always wanted to coach people and I have always had the mind to be able to do it. When I was younger I would study games just to watch the movements of players to know how to help out my team the most even if I was in a position in I am not used to.
What makes me a good candidate for your team is my love and passion for the game. My love and passion for the game goes beyond just playing, I want soccer to be a part of my future in all aspects especially in coaching. This passion and love for the game has also given me an advantage over my opponents who have not had the same feelings for the sport, so my knowledge of the game enlarges my advantage over them in tactics and positioning.
What makes me different from other recruits in my character is my own personal integrity, respectfulness, and willingness to always follow the rules even if I do not agree with them. What makes me different in my athletics is my willingness to play in any position on the field, to not give up on any play, and my willingness to always do the best for the team not for personal praise. What makes me different in my academics is my strive to always do my absolute best in my school work, to look at things from all angles to find a way to answer questions, and my willingness to look at all views in every situation.
Thank you for your time.
