My first game on the varsity team was a life-changing experience for me. Although I was confident I could compete at this level, I was rightfully nervous. That nervousness left the second the whistle blew. When I need to be focused, I am. As a defender, I am focused on the players in front of me and the communication being passed around by my teammates, and nothing else. As a student-athlete, the ability to focus is arguably the one of most important skills to have. Balancing difficult classwork and difficult opponents can be unmanageable for many, but I thrive in that environment.
The "beautiful game" has taught me a lot about myself. I love to win, but more importantly, I love to win as a team. Seeing how the hard work my teammates and I put in on the practice field pays off in results is fulfilling. This is what inspires me to play at the next level. In the college classroom and on the college soccer field, it's all about putting in hard work and watching it pay off in both reaching my career goals and driving towards a title. That is what I live for, and what I cannot wait to do for the right school, coach, and team.
