My name is Ryan McElwain and I am in 11th grade. My family and I completed a cross country move from CO to PA in 3/2021. I have goals of attending college and playing soccer for my school. I can play almost any position, but have settled in as an outside defender and center back. My coaches have told me that I am a versatile player who can drop in anywhere on the field and do the job. What sets me apart from others is that I have a strong work ethic. I work hard to lessen my weak areas by practicing on my own, and I am confident in my skills.
Soccer has been part of my life for many years. I began playing when I was 3 years old. Though soccer is part of who I am, I am many other things as well. I have learned how to be a good brother and a good friend. My two younger brothers are adopted from foster care and I have helped them learn sports and helped teach them how to be part of our family. Additionally, when I was 12, my friend and soccer teammate experienced tragedy when his brother was killed. I learned the benefits of friendship, supporting others, and being part of a team when it doesn't involve the sport itself.
As someone in high school, I am still learning and growing as a person. I am excited for my journey in high school and I am looking forward to my college years! I am also excited to bring my skills to your school!
