Personal Statement

I am a 5'10'' midfielder from Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; I will graduate from Academic Magnet High School in 2021. I have been a part of the Varsity AMHS Soccer Team since freshman year, where I was a starter and earned the inaugural Rookie of the Year award from my coaches. I have played for the United Soccer Academy of Mount Pleasant 02 Premier teams and have represented the club at numerous national tournaments, including the USYS National League and the USYS Southern Regional Championships. I want to pursue either aerospace engineering or bioengineering in college; I want to be at a highly selective school that contains a rigorous academic and athletic schedule, as this is the environment in which I pride myself in and thrive the most in as well. I want to play highly competitive soccer in addition to earning a degree in my desired field, and I wish to find a school that emulates this meticulous student-athlete environment.

Are you in honor classes?

Yes. All Honors classes throughout my school career. The 2018-19 school year is the first year I am able to take AP classes.

Are you in AP/IB classes?

Yes. AP European History and AP Statistics are the first two AP's I am taking in my high school career. At Academic Magnet in South Carolina, we are not allowed to take AP classes is 9th grade, so I am taking my first two AP's in 10th grade. During 11th grade, I took AP Physics 1, AP Calculus AB, AP Art History, AP Computer Science Principles, AP Capstone Seminar, and AP English Language and Composition. In 12th grade, I am going to take AP Physics C: Mechanics, AP Calculus BC, AP Capstone Research, AP English Literature, AP Spanish, AP Gov/AP Econ, and AP Psychology.
