Personal Statement
I have been playing soccer since I was about 5 years old. I grew up playing both soccer and baseball, but recently made the decision to focus on soccer instead of playing both sports. I know that I would like to play soccer at the next level and have the determination to push myself to get to that level. During my soccer career I have always been a midfielder, usually attacking or outside. I am a senior at Alcoa High School and will be playing my second year of soccer with the school this upcoming spring for my senior season. Up until my junior year of high school I played baseball with the school and played club soccer with Blount United. Like I said before, I made the change to only play soccer, so now I play for both my school and club.
My 2020 year has been far from perfect when it comes to athletics. My junior season was stopped because of the pandemic and my team only got to play a couple of preseason games and about two of our regular season games. Immediately after the school season was stopped I found myself at a doctors appointment learning that I had a hip impingement that had been rubbing up against my labrum over time causing it to tear. I then had to have surgery and missed my senior club season. This obstacle has not been a set back, but instead for me it has made me want to play the game more and come back better than I was before. I look forward to putting in extra work and seeing what my senior season at Alcoa has to offer for my future plans to play college.
Not only do I want to work harder to come back stronger than I was before my injury, but I also want to be a leader for the teams I play for. I carry myself as a leader on and off the field. I also take pride in my grades and keeping up with school work. I have maintained above a 4.0 GPA throughout high school and was accepted into the National Honor Society. I believe that my mindset and work ethic will help me play at the next level and compete above the others that have the same intentions as me.
