Justin Sexton '17 Recruiting Profile

I love this game. I take pride in overcoming challenges. Soccer has given me the opportunity to do amazing things and meet inspiring people. Show up with a soccer ball anywhere in the world and you can make friends. My game has evolved through the trainers I’ve had the opportunity to work with. In Germany I learned game intelligence and how the team functions as a unit. It was there I also learned the importance of the air ball and a well placed cross. Spain taught me about the short quick game done in one and two touch. Training with Eddie Johnson for a year refined my technical ability and comfort on a ball as well as taking on players in the final third. Cory Gibbs was extremely influential in my current understanding of the defensive positioning of modern day fullbacks. Through this journey I have developed the skills to be a modern functioning fullback. My athleticism paired with technical ability and game intelligence allows me to comfortably be involved in the attack while still covering my defensive responsibilities. As a tenacious competitor, I have a strong will to win as well as the drive that it takes to achieve my goals.

My desire to play at the highest level and perform at the top of my ability has taught me discipline on and off the field.

I strive for personal excellence, but my devotion doesn’t stop there. My team’s success is just as important as my own and contributing to that success is both empowering and rewarding.

I am excited to see what the future holds and look forward to putting these pieces together in a program to create a dynamic team experience of the beautiful game.
