Personal Statement
My passion for soccer began only four years ago with a family vacation to Spain. A tour of the Santiago Bernabéu and Camp Nou stadiums, as well as a few street games with the local kids ignited a new passion in me. Once back home, I immersed myself in every opportunity I could get to develop my skills. Whether closely studying games, finding opportunities to play street ball or tirelessly practicing on my own.
I tried out for my middle school soccer team and didn't make it. Well aware of my skills gap, I used this experience to motivate me even more. I later tried out for my High School soccer team and made the JV team. Patiently riding the bench and working hard, I soon became a starter for my High School Varsity team, gaining an Honorable District Mention, and helping my team reach the 4th round of playoffs, which is farther than they have gone in the past 16 years.
Within this short time, I also joined a soccer club and have been working my way up in division each season. I tried out for ODP, and made the TX State Team. I tried out for Futsal National IDs and made the US National Pool and then later made the Austin ISL DA team. I have been playing catch up with my peers, quickly advancing and developing my game, at the same time, maintaining a high GPA and a rigorous academic workload. I know I still have a lot more growth in me, and the hunger to further perfect my game. And if given the opportunity to play at a college level, I know there is still more I can achieve.
