Youssef Chaaban '20 Recruiting Profile

    My name is Youssef Chaaban and I am a devoted student-athlete. Soccer has been a passion of mine ever since I was a little kid. It was the only thing I grew up doing that I excelled over others in. It has always been a dream of mine to play college soccer, not only as a personal goal for myself but to also make my parents proud. Not only do I play soccer but I also watch it. I try and mimic everything I see my role models do, such as Marcelo, Carvajal, and Alaba.  My position over the years has shifted from center mid to defense, but my freshman year in High school I was content with playing fullback (right back). Over the years, I have learned the tactics of being a defender, such as knowing when to press a player or just holding back. I also learned to carry the ball upfield and send long balls to my strikers and support the mid.  I am a very dedicated player to the game. I have the commitment, integrity, and good sportsmanship. 

    I am going into my junior year in high school. Last year, the year of the 17-18 season, my school and I made it to the Division II final in men's varsity TAPPS. I was a starter on the team that set out for glory that year. We went undefeated, up until the state final, where we had a devastating loss in penalties. Last year our team consisted of five star seniors that led the team. After losing many vital players, the coach seemed it fit to move me to center back to lead our backline. I have played center back numerous times throughout the previous seasons and hope to help my teammates continue the legacy that our team last year left. I will do everything in my power to make sure everyone on the team feels at home while being physically and mentally prepared for this upcoming season. This year is was my junior year and i was honored to be captain of the team. I worked very hard and made sure that my teammates and I did our absolute best. Although we did not make it past round of 16 in the playoffs, I was still honored to win first team in TAPPS and MVP in my school.
