Personal Statement
Hello! My name is Jesus Melgoza and I am a 2021 graduate. My primary position is in the midfield as an attacking or defending midfielder, but for my club team I am more of a forward/winger. Some of the goals I have set for myself is to get into a good school not only for the athletics but for the academics too. I have been very passionate about soccer since I was a kid and have always aspired to be a professional player, I believe that college is one step I need to take to become a better player and be better prepared or future challenges. As a player I am very good on the ball, I take pride in my technique so that in critical situations my touch will not fail me. I like to move the ball around quickly and efficiently so my team can maintain possession of the ball. When I do lose the ball I quickly sprint to retrieve the ball or get compact with my team. All my life my parents have urged me to maintain my grades so that in the future it pays off, as my grades stand right now I am confident in my ability to maintain a good GPA throughout college. Things that make me different from other is my background, I come from a family that finished most of their school in Mexico and I would like to be the first to graduate from a university in the United States. Another thing is my soccer background, I played in the FC Dallas academy my U-14 through U-16 career until I decided I wanted to play high school soccer. My time at the academy was special because it gave me a glimpse of what a pro feels like. As a player I always like to be coachable so I can learn as much as I can from my coaches, and when things aren't going my way I like to take the positive out of situations.
