Personal Statement
Hello, My name is Garrett Shonaike and I found soccer at a very young age and immediately fell in love with it. Currently, as a Senior at Mayde Creek High School I play Varsity Soccer and I'm currently in 3 AP classes and 2 Pre-Ap classes with 5 previous AP Classes under my belt.A big turning point for me in my soccer career was being omitted from the Varsity Squad as a Sophomore, however that experience allowed me to work much harder than before with a clear goal in sight, and the following year I made the Varsity Squad. I believe being a student athlete is an honor despite the amount of hard work that comes with that occupation as it allows you to put on the team badge of your school and represent them with school pride. My current aspirations for High School is too finish strong and further increase my GPA as much as possible and pursue a career in Software Development in the Computer Science field whilst playing the sport Soccer I love in college.
My long term aspirations is generally just to be a better person than I currently am, and contribute to society in one way or another and have my name be seen as an alumni at college in the future. I am someone that thrives on competitiveness, as I believe that's necessary to continue to grow as a person, however I also believe it's necessary to work together with those around you to also benefit both parties. I view work ethic as a plant, the more water you give it, which is hard work, the more it will grow and the more benefits you will reap as a result to the endless amounts of dedication you have given it. A massive dream of mine is playing at the college level of soccer ,just like my older brother did at Houston Baptist University in the NCAA for four years. I am willing to work as hard as possible in order to boost the GPA of your team,contribute goals and everything I can to the team effort on your College Team. I am excited to be able to grow academically and athletically as a potential student athlete at the College Level!
