Personal Statement
Since I can remember i've always played at a competitive level. I had two main positions, right wing and right mid for Albion boys club in aberdeen, one of Scotland's premier clubs. I moved to Katy, Texas when i was 12. The change was immense. I had to deal with the huge increase in heat and humidity. Soccer wasn't the only change though, the schooling was so different to anything i've experienced that I lagged behind. It's only been recently to where i've started to really get used to it.
I started playing for Albion Hurricanes and the CRHS jv team in the same year. Having 2 very different coaches with 2 very different play styles really made me a versatile player. Once the coaches got to know me they both came to the conclusion that I should play center back due to my natural defensive capabilities.
Last season for Albion my coach really focused on defensive organisation and counter attacking play. I fit very well into this style of play. We ended the season undefeated only conceding eight goals in 20 games. At the end of this amazing season I was told by my coach that I was by far one of the best defenders in the league which was a huge compliment to me and made me want to work even harder.
My jva team for CRHS voted me captain, which gave me a massive responsibility to be a team role model, motivator and leader. I think this gave me an extra incentive to be the best player I could be. I was mostly still in the center back position, but if my team needed some more intensity offensively I would be put as a striker.
This year I have made it my goal to improve my speed of play because my albon team has moved from a counter attacking mentality to a more possessive one. I am already very good at being a classic, no nonsense defender. So i'm very excited to add this to my list of abilities.
I have a real passion for soccer, it's been a huge influence on my life
. It has made me really enjoy being a part of a team on and off the field, but it's also taught me persistence, hard work and focus.
I look forward to experiencing the college life, studying for my future as well as playing the game love.
