Tell coaches about your collegiate goals and aspirations.
My goal regarding collegiate soccer is to learn and develop in my game as much as possible from coaches, players (current or graduates) in an attempt to grow myself in character and my playing ability to see just how far my career can take me. There is always that still small voice that tells me at the start each game that “Arlen, today, you should be a better version of who you were at the last game”. I love being the very best of me that I can be. I have the hunger to, one day, play soccer at the highest level.
What makes you a good candidate for their team?
I put in the work that is needed one hundred percent of the time. This work ethic, combined with my experience in the various places I have lived (Canada, Australia and the USA) and visited (Mexico, New Zealand, Nigeria, Dubai, & the UK), helps me be able to work with anyone and communicate effectively with people of different cultural or social backgrounds leading to helping build a more cohesive team at school, on the field of play or in the community.
What makes you different from other recruits in character, athletics and academics?
Two of my core values are Respect and Service. My caring and giving personality allows me to always encourage those around me, particularly, in situations where their heads are down. Through sports, class work and volunteering services in my church, I have learnt to always do my best to be part of the solution, not part of the problem, irrespective of what the issues are. Also, I try my best to strike a balance amongst my academic, athletic and social lives in a manner that results in the best outcomes on these three most important aspects of my being. I love to give!
