When I first touched a ball at age 6, I realized soccer was my passion and it's been the biggest part of my life ever since. From that point, I spent every moment I could playing the game, whether through leagues, private training, or just kicking it around for hours in the backyard. At age 11 I even started going to Sunday morning adult pickup games because I didn't want to take a day off. And last year, I left my family for a whole year to play soccer in Germany. My goal is to play college soccer because I can't imagine life without soccer. It's just what I do and always will.
The extra time I have put in has definitely paid off. I have great touch and a confident and calm style of play. I always show for the ball and have a great vision for the field combined with the foot skills needed to open up and find my options. My coaches say that they can rely on me to be consistent, and this too I think is because of my steady demeanor. I am a huge threat in the air, and my coach always makes sure I am involved with corner kicks.
All of my coaches have always said that one of my greatest strengths is coachability. I apply what I learn in practice to the game, and I implement my coach's halftime strategies during the next half. I am proud that they consider me a leader. On the field, I direct from the middle, and always bring a positive attitude that helps bring up my teammates even when things aren't going well. I work hard and am always respectful of my teammates and my coach.
During school I study hard to maintain high grades. This year I am attending a small private school where I'm taking six core courses (three honors) and will dual enroll for two courses in the second semester. Even though soccer is first, it's not my only interest. I am involved many extracurricular activities including the Youth and Government Mock Trial team, Student Council, and Boy Scout venturing crew.
I hope to find a college that is a great fit both in terms of my academic interests and soccer. Camaraderie is as important to me as playing at a high level. I am open to all options where I can continue to grow as a player and hopefully become a leader to my peers.
