Personal Statement
I'm Sebastian Urbano, 19 years old, I was Class of 2022 Claudia Taylor Johnson High school. I was born In Denver, Colorado, but have double citizenship (Peruvian and American) I spent a great part of my life in Peru, (because my parents are from there ) and I've been on youth academy soccer teams in Peru. Besides playing soccer since I started walking, I have been studying also in Peru throughout the years, and just in 2020 graduated from high school in Peru, because of its different academic process. I have my transcripts from Peru also. What really is unique about me is that because originally all my family is from Peru, My Mom and I constantly were traveling back and forth to Lima and San Antonio, this meant that at the same time I was studying In San Antonio, I was also In Lima, because when vacations are here, school is happening on Peru, so that was an advantage. Also since a child, my dream and preference were the science field, and always was thinking of becoming a doctor. At school in Huacho, Lima, I was 6th place rank of my entire school class. But as you may know the education in high school from Peru is different, because before high school, in elementary and middle school I was at the top of my class ( In elementary I was Bilingual). I'm also the first of my family generation born in the U.S that will study college here in the U.S, which I want to pursue here in the U.S my sport and major because I have seen 2 different realities and here there are many for everyone. I think what makes me a good candidate for a team is that I bring what I learn from my family "always fight for something, and never stop even though you reach something" meaning that always be thirsty for more, never satisfied. Also what makes me more different is that I have a background of 2 direct realities I know how to make the most of an opportunity because in Peru I have seen how many kids like me would want to be in my shoes, so that is what makes me sad, and therefore, any opportunity I get all give my 100% effort. In Peru, different things are taught from here in the U.S, like religion is the main part of me. I started in the recruitment process my senior year, a little bit late but I have to overcome and that's my academics and athletics. As of today I’m playing in the UPSL with SA CORINTHIANS. Last but not least, athletically, I'm unique because I have always been side to side with the beast in Peru, but also in Latin America is a different style of play, also we played a lot of street soccer in Peru. I have learned many things in street soccer like tight spaces, one-touch passes, fast passes, quick movement, and my favorite things: Fancy moves which at certain times do help me a lot on the real field. As I have Peruvian blood in my veins, and Peru is a soccer country, we have a special style of play, that I could take to any program, like the fancy game you can call it also "Jogo bonito". What I wanted to get is total about my aspirations; as many people but especially as Sebastian Urbano Alor, I want to make my family proud which all of them believe in me as a soccer player and academically. I want to play on the highest level of soccer that's the main goal but also I want to get my major which I really desire and so do my family. A good competitive academically and athletically program is what I most would want because I'm a person who is not lazy, but If a see a really hard team and competent, I'm someone different trying to fight for something which can be a starter or even to the "one". So as in academics, I want a really competitive program with good teachers that will always care about you and brig help, but also make it harder in a good way so I can learn, I'm not decided finally which branch I want to pursue, but I always like science. I have‘t give up; and I regret not comitting to a college in the fall 2022, I had a few options thanks to God, but I did‘t want to pursue it. However I want to redeem myself and have another opportunity.
