Personal Statement
I am currently the starting goalkeeper on the Barca Academy 2001 Garnet team. I am honored to have this position as I am a 2003, Class of 2021 goalkeeper. I became the starting GK in the spring of 2018 after two years of playing as the second GK for 2001 behind an incredible teammate. As fate changed, I was given the chance at 16 years old to be the starter for the flagship U19 team in our club. I earned the role after two years of committed practice and growth.
At 17, I am playing U19 on a national level. This fall, my team is playing at CASL (Raleigh, NC) and the Disney National Showcases. We are moving into the quarterfinals of the Virginia State Cup. I am getting exposure to play against some of the toughest competition on the East Coast. This has confirmed my collegiate goal is to continue to play in a challenging environment at a school that will enable me to keep developing as a player and achieve my ultimate goal - to be professional goalkeeper in either the United States or Europe.
Since I was 6 years old, I wanted to be a goalkeeper. I have dedicated the last decade to learning everything I can about being a goalkeeper. I have had the good fortune to training with a variety of coaches. However, what differentiates me, is my passion for the game. My daily desire to be on the pitch, learning and developing, and training.
I am taking a very rigorous academic load my junior year. I am a straight A student, currently taking 6 collegiate level classes. I have my goal to go to a strong academic school, with a strong soccer program. I find that balancing my time between school, soccer and sleep in my greatest challenge right now - but I am doing it! I am exploring interests in a career in business and/or science.
I am a good candidate for you because I am deeply focused on my contributions to the team. I show up, I work hard, I am humble on the field, I learn from my coaches, I strive to lead the team as a goalkeeper. I have learned how to be grateful and humble. I have been that kid that was cut from the A team, that played the backup. I never let it stop me. It was my fuel to work harder and learn more. My dedication, love of the game and fuel to learn has lead me to play as the starter for one of the top teams in Virginia. I will bring the same ambition and commitment to your team.
