James Cox '20 Recruiting Profile

    I began playing soccer when I was three years old and have been hooked ever since. Playing soccer at the next level in college is a goal of mine. I am currently training most every day, either in the weight room focusing on both strength and speed or on the field improving my skills. My dedication to the sport and commitment to the team is recognized by my coaches who made me captain of our school varsity team both my Junior and Senior years.  On the field, I enjoy competition and excel through the tougher challenges.  My coaches would say that I never back down and never quit.  Currently, for the first time in the history of our school, our varsity team is ranked #1 in the state (VISAA Div II & MaxPreps).

    My passion for the sport continues off the field as well. For the past several seasons I have coached a youth FC Richmond team (currently U15), volunteered with both Special Olympics soccer training and RVA Access, and worked at our school’s summer soccer camp.

    Academically, I have maintained a high GPA while taking honors classes (and AP’s this year). I am looking for a college where I can thrive both in the classroom and on the field.
