My name is Christopher Gonzales. I am 17 years old and graduate in 2019 at Mountain View High School in Stafford, Virginia. I am 6'2" and weigh 185 pounds. I have been playing soccer since I was 4 years old and it is my passion. I currently play center back for the Stafford Area Soccer Association's Elite Blue travel team and for my high school, Mountain View High School in Stafford, Virginia, and am fully committed to continue playing soccer in college.
I have started as center back for my 5A high school team since the ladder part of my freshman year and was an integral part of winning our conference during my freshman year and led the team to an unprecedented second straight conference title as a sophomore. Both years we lost in the regional finals to the eventual state champions. My high school team is currently undefeated and I expect we will continue to do well. It is a very exciting team to watch and I invite you to come and see as many games as possible. I am attaching my high school schedule and my Jefferson Cup schedule for any coach out there who wants to come see me. I run a 5:30 mile and have scored 17/20 on the Man-U's. I can bench 185 pounds and have deadlifted 225 pounds. I do not squat because of the amount of conditioning my legs get in soccer.
I have played in select tournaments at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida; the Pittsburgh Riverhounds invitation only tournament; the Pennsylvania Classics invite only tournament; multiple Jeff Cups; the Capital Fall Classic in Richmond; the APC Premier Cup; most recently, the VDA Showcase and many local invite only tournaments. This past weekend I participated in a SASA ID Camp and was dubbed, in good fun, "the linebacker" by several attending coaches. I have been approached by multiple coaches who have expressed interest in recruiting me. I have attended the Virginia Tech ID camp and on two occasions was named VIP camper for my age group. This summer I plan on attending the college ID camps at the colleges I am interested in attending so the coaching staff can get to know me better as a person and as an athlete. Between now and the camps, I am slated to play in the Jefferson Cup 2018 at the end of March and in my high school games.
Academically: I took the SAT and scored an 1130. I am scheduled to take the again in the fall to maximize my score and earn financial merit scholarships. I currently have a weighted GPA of 3.875. I understand the importance of academics and have renewed my academic focus as demonstrated by my grades during the first semester of my junior year.
I am providing the contact information for: Fernando Ramos (Former D1 player at Radford), the Player Development Director for SASA, 540-903-6010, [email protected]; Preston Whitlock (former D1 player at William and Mary), my club coach at SASA, 240-993-6486, [email protected]; and Andrew Offineer, my varsity high school coach at Mountain View High School, 540-604-8866, [email protected]. I would humbly ask that you contact any one of them to obtain an objective opinion of my ability to play at the college level.
My immediate goal is to continue performing well academically and athletically in high school. I am committed to continuing to do well academically in college and even more committed to playing soccer in college. My dream would be to play professional soccer and I am hoping my college coach will help me achieve that goal. I will put in the hard work, I just need guidance.
I have not decided on what I plan on studying in college. I have contemplated going into one of the service academies but am also considering pursuing a degree in Marine Biology, Psychology, and Criminal Law.
I believe I would be a good recruit for a college coach because I truly am committed, most importantly, to academics. My GPA demonstrates that and I understand that my success in academics will be the foundation for my success after college. I learn quickly and adapt quickly to changing circumstances. I have endured a very challenging childhood and have persevered through it. I am a very composed person and play very composed soccer. Equally as important as being committed academically, I believe I represent my team well. I am polite, respectful, easily coached, and appreciate the fact that God has given me the ability to play soccer.
I look forward to hearing from you. I can be reached at [email protected] or at telephone number 703-881-8016. My dad can be reached at [email protected] or telephone number 703-881-8016
