Personal Statement
Soccer is a universal language. Everyone in the world plays the beautiful game. Whether you are in a huge stadium playing in front of thousands or playing in the streets barefoot, you know you are having fun. I came to realize this during a summer vacation trip to Indonesia, a third world country, where my parents originated from. We go every two years to visit family and enjoy some time off. This trip, one of my younger cousins also took up the passion for playing soccer and he recently joined one of the top clubs in his city. During my stay there, he took me many times to his practices and I even got the opportunity to coach and play with the team. It was amazing to see the passion everyone had for the sport. On the other hand, it was also sad to see how poor the conditions and quality was for even the top teams. They played on dirt fields, wore reused uniforms, and ate fried foods and simple carbs for nutrition. Experiencing this made me realize how fortunate I was back home to have access to gyms, grass fields, healthy food, and so much more that I’ve taken for granted. I came home more excited and motivated to use all the resources I have to be the best I can be at the game. I took action and joined Crossfire Premier, trained 1on1 with overtimeathletes coach, Chris Barnard, and dedicated myself to training every day. Now, I am a center mid at Crossfire Premier and have a GPA of 3.912 at Eastlake High School. I enjoy pursuing knowledge and striving for excellence in everything I do. To a team, I bring a level of discipline and motivation to work hard and compete to win.
