Isaiah Zabel '27 Recruiting Profile

I am a dedicated and hardworking athlete. I work well with teammates and am open to advice from others. I've been watching soccer with my dad for as long as I can remember, and I started playing when I was 4. I've played select soccer for the past 7 years, and took a big step up to premier this year with Seattle United. As a freshman and sophomore I attended a small Christian High School (Shoreline Christian School) that didn’t have a soccer team, so that I could play for the local public high school (Edmonds-Woodway). My freshman year, I was one of only 5 freshmen to make the boys' soccer program. I got to play half of each JV game in goal and recorded 8 shutouts. I am dedicated to working hard and fighting for the starting varsity goalie role next year. As a sophomore I made the team again, but this year I was the swing goalkeeper, which meant that I would play one half of JV and then would be on the bench for the varsity games, in case they needed help or we were winning by a lot. I got into two games. Both were against Mountlake Terrace, the first was just for five minutes, in which I had a clean sheet, and we won the game 5-0. The second time I was able to play the whole game we won 4-0, and I again had a clean sheet. It was a great experience and I loved getting to travel with the team to state games. Now as a junior I made the move to permanently be at Edmonds-Woodway and will be playing all my sports here. This year I'm working out twice as much as last year and training 4-5 times a week in hopes of becoming the varsity keeper. I'm committed to my position and to be coming the best I can.

I also love basketball, outdoor activities like hiking and camping, and I enjoy spending time with friends and family. I am actively involved in my church, both attending and serving.
