After pursuing high level competitive gymnastics for 10 years, I was forced to quit due to an injury and decided to pursue soccer in the absence of physical activity from my life. I started playing goalie just 3 years ago, despite having played soccer as a kid. During high school season in my sophomore year, I broke my knee, and was kept out for what was supposed to be 5 months, but due to my determination to get back onto the pitch, I was able to successfully recover in just 3 months. Following up with specific exercises and workouts enabled me to get back to full strength and give myself range of motion within a year of this horrific incident. This was by far the hardest situation I have had to come back from, and learned how dedicated and just how much I desired getting to the next level of soccer I was.
Academics play the biggest role in my life as I love learning and pushing myself to new heights. I currently take full honors and AP and am striving to earn an undergraduate degree in history and political science. Volunteer work is another part of my life with which I have invested a good amount of my time, from helping out at church to spending days at a nearby food bank loading food and shipping it out to redistribution centers.
In addition, I was was named captain of my high school soccer team for my ability to lead others by example, and bring up the level with which the team plays, due to my communication and positivity on the field. I'm very coachable and learn quickly, and due to my background in gymnastics, athleticism and explosiveness are two weapons in my arsenal.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile and read a little bit more about my life away from the soccer field.
