Personal Statement
My name is Ezra Wallace and I’m a 6’0, 145lb High School Junior from Madison, Wisconsin. I play for the Madison 56ers U17 Boys red team and I also play on the U19 Boys Red team.
I started playing soccer when I was 3 years old. Even though we did not play formal positions I knew at the age of 7 I wanted to be a goalkeeper. I would gladly swap positions with the teammate that was asked to play the goalkeeper position for a game. After that I never looked back. In order to increase my goalkeeper skills, I also played field positions on different recreational teams.
As a goalkeeper I possess strong sense of athleticism, communication, footwork, handling, and shot stopping skills, I also possess a strong work ethic.
The start of the 2022-203 soccer season was tough for me. While I made the Varisty Team I experienced a devastating loss. In July of 2022 my father passed away unexpectedly. My father never missed a game and loved playing soccer himself. To compound my loss I suffered a hand injury that ended my high school season prematurely (although my coach allowed me to play field for a few games). At the end of the season I received the Spartan Spirit award for my leadership on the team. Despite this adversity this year presented, I was able to persevere. I rehabbed my hand in time to start the soccer club season with the Madison 56ers. I continue to mourn the loss of my father as he shared my love of soccer, but I know he is with me everytime I step on the field.
Off the field I work equally as hard. While I am technically a Vel Phillips Memorial High School student I was accepted into the early STEM program and I take all of my classes at Madison College.
