Theodore Gibeau '23 Recruiting Profile

I am a 2023 graduate playing fulltime with U19 MLS Next at United Bavarians.  I am activly looking for a college that I can call home for the next four years.   I have played soccer since the age of 5.  Having played many sports including basketball, baseball and golf, I have to say there is nothing I love more than scoring goals. The feeling of happiness I experience on the pitch hasn't faded a bit over the years of playing.  On the contrary, my love for the game of soccer has grown and inspires me today.  I keep in mind something my brother told me as he was committing to play at Skidmore College after a rough pandemic recruiting season.  He said cherish the time you are on the the pitch. It may be the last time you play so grab every minute.  Those words coupled with the moments when it is all coming together-the ball is moving quick, first touch dialed in- is truly the best feeling in sports.  I also consider myself a student of the game.  I grew up watching soccer on TV and learned a lot from watching the professional players.  My favorite player to watch is Alexis Sanchez when he played for Arsenal.  I was drawn to his scoring ability and his vision of the field.  I have tried to model my play after him because I feel that I also have the ability to see the field, break down plays and choose the best possible move for the moment.  I believe this asset separates me from  other kids trying to play at the next level.  In addition, I love the team aspect of soccer.  Working with other players, building relationships  to work towards a common goal is a huge motivator and a major aspect of the joy I feel when playing soccer.  It is my hope to play in

college so I can contribute to a team, develop my game and to keep those great moments .
