Personal Statement
My name is Thomas Schuppner and I am a 17 year old senior at Evansville High School in Evansville, Wisconsin. I earned a spot on the varsity soccer team when I was a freshman. Now, for my high school I am a starting central defensive midfielder. Soccer has been my passion since I was 4 years old. At age 11, I started playing for the Oregon Soccer Club in a state league and have continued to play with them during the high school off season. When outdoor soccer ends because of the winter, I play indoor soccer and futsal to stay on top of my game. I have attended various soccer camps throughout my career and am always looking for my next opportunity to get out on the field. When I’m not on the field as a player, you can find me as a referee. I have been doing this for 5 years in order to save money for college. Refereeing has helped me develop a greater understanding for the game of soccer from a different perspective.
Academically, I enjoy classes that require math to solve problems and I plan to pursue a degree in Science or Engineering. I have completed a dual credit course in Physics my Freshman year and I have recently completed AP World History during my sophomore year as well as AP Language, AP Biology, and a dual credit course in Engineering during my Junior year. In my final year, I am taking AP Calculus, AP Literature, and AP Psychology. All of these courses will further solidify my career choice and help me decide where to attend college. I am a good student who takes academics as seriously as I take the game of soccer.
In addition to school and soccer, I am an active member of our church. I also volunteer at my former grade school for events. My family has always taught me to give back to my community and those in need whenever time allows. Some other interests I have are: downhill skiing and playing the saxophone.
I would ultimately like to find a school that will challenge me academically, provide me the opportunity to give back to the community, and continue playing soccer.
