Service:
How I am involved in service in my community and why these efforts are important to me:
Volunteer Coaching: Hartford United SC 8&9 year olds - Soccer Camps
I feel it is important to pass on the knowledge that other volunteers have given me since my skills have come from those people who have donated their time. They have helped me to be successful and I feel it is my duty to help others become successful too.
Leadership:
Through my large social network of connections through community, academic, and athletic activities; I have continued to mentor my friends and fellow aspiring student athletes. I have shown leadership on and off the field through my study behaviors and my practice routines. I continually encourage my friends and teammates to better themselves academically and athletically. I stay late at school to spend time with them studying in the library and stay late on the fields working with them on their passing and shooting skills. I also volunteer by coaching younger kids good soccer skills. This has helped both myself and others to be even more successful in school and on the field.
Student-Athlete:
I try to maintain "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete. I do this by balancing both the mental and physical part of being a student-athlete. I believe that soccer is 50% mental and 50% physical.
I make sure that I mentally spend time visualizing and studying the game of soccer so that I have a visual picture of any scenario that may develop during the game so that I can try to be more proactive instead of reactive.
I physically try to work out by running, juggling, dribbling, passing, and shooting the soccer ball every day. I also physically work out with light weights, stretching, and eating healthy to strengthen my body and stay flexible. I try to invite friends and others to work out with me on these activities whenever I can.
I know that school is extremely important, so I make sure that I balance my time correctly and take advantage of down time to stay on top of my school work so that I get good grades. I would really love to get the chance to get a college degree in Business Accounting while also playing soccer and then an MBA in Accounting. And it would be even better if I could do that via a Soccer Scholarship.
