Although I have not been swimming my whole life, once I jumped in the water in 2011, a love began for the sport. Since joining the swim team, I have excelled in the last three and half years for both myself and for my team. Setting and meeting personal and team goals to drop time and improve strokes, we have improved our standing in the state. Celebrating the glory of a success with the team as a team, and not just as an individual accomplishment, is one of the rewards of swimming. Swimming for a college will just bring me to the next level of experience, training, and teamwork.

Late in my eighth grade year swimming in college became a very real goal. Although still considering the specifics of a career in athletics, and swimming in particular, I have begun coaching the younger swimmers and am enjoying the opportunity of leadership, helping them improve and succeed in their own goals and watching their own sense of accomplishments.

Encouraged by my family to be involved in athletic activities and initially competing in additional sports, I chose to focus on swimming. The discipline and time required has helped teach me discipline in other areas, and I have worked to maintain a 3.5 to 4.0 grade point average. My immediate goal is to excel in high school swimming and academics to acquire my long term goal of college.
