Swimming has always meant more than just an athletic sport. Swimming represents my family’s history and lifestyle. My father was a swimmer for ASU in the late 1990’s and my mother was a fantastic swimmer in her highschool years. I hope to carry my family’s history and my work ethic to the next step. In November of 2020, I committed to Concordia University Irvine. I finished my freshman year with high hopes that I can do better. I am currently in a gap year with high hopes of reaching my goals. I hope to commit to a D1 and as well to reach times I didn’t think was possible years ago.
I started swimming when I was 12 years for Mesa Aquatics Club. Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with Nocturnal Epilepsy months after joining the club team. My parents took me out of aquatics since we knew little about what the Epilepsy could lead to. I eventually went on to play basketball and use my height as an advantage. As time went on I felt like the sport was not for me. After serveral years of being seizure free and my medications working greatly, I joined a small club team (AZAC) when I was 14. Out of my 4 years swimming in that club, I rarely lifted and never did more than 6 practices a week. After my freshman year of college, I knew I could pursue more. I decided to take the gap year and do more intense training. I am now doing 9 practices and lifting 2-3 times a week. Since I have started this new training, I have dropped significantly all around. This is just the beginning, I hope to reach my goals on my big meet in April.
