Personal Statement
This last year has proven to be a watershed moment, with challenges that required me to be both out of the water for physical (the removal of my tonsils- which resulted in the missing of over four weeks of training) and personal reasons (presenting to the bedside of my grandfather, who was battling stage 4 cancer in Canada- for an additional 5 weeks)
The circumstances create situations where the obstacles involved, necessitated both physical and mental fortitude. Upon returning to school in the fall I focused (and felt privilege to do so) on changes to my diet, dryland and swimming regiment. This goal that has burned brightly in my minds eye (swimming in a D1 program) for so long is palpable, and is reflected in my most current accomplishments.
We are all given a chance or opportunity in life, it's how we respond to these gifts that set us apart. I will make a mark, enriching my own life and those around me through dedication, diligence, service and the pursuit of excellence.
