Hello coaches, my name is Logan Larive. I am currently a sophomore at De La Salle High School in Concord CA with dreams of competing in college. I started swimming at the age of seven and at that time I was not completely invested in the sport. As I kept getting older my love of the sport kept growing as well, and by the age of 10 I had grown to love the sport. At that age I was only on a rec team and had no knowledge of how fast the other swimmers my age were. Of course I wanted to go and compete in the Olympics. Now I am 15 years old and have a much greater understanding and love for the sport.
I think the things that have made me successful so far in swimming and in life is my attitude and perseverance. In swimming I have always been a very hard worker in practice, mainly because of my understanding that it will all pay off later in meets. I think that this is just part of my attitude, while the other part that I mentioned was having perseverance. I believe that I have perseverance because of my ability to continue working hard and pushing forward while under less than ideal circumstances. Some times when this has happened include getting sick before championship meets, being sick during finals weeks at school, and even having our club pool break mid season. All these things are obstacles which change the way I have to approach the way I do things in everyday life.
For my swimming I am practicing in the pool 6 days a week and then 2 extra days of weights. I moved to a year round team during May of 2024.
In my academics I have held myself to hold good grades in all my classes. As well as being a high honors student though out my time in high school. This has not been easy but I have been able to achieve this so far and will continue my hard work. I have also taken on leadership positions at my high school. My sophomore year I was honored to be selected to be an Admissions Ambassador. Which I will continue my Junior year. I have also applied and been selected as a House leader/On Board leader for my junior year. It is important to me to give back to my high school community, as it has given so much to me.
Thank you coaches for reading over my statement.
