My name is Lucas and I started swimming when I was five years old. My parents asked me to participate in a sport because I had a lot of energy and I decided to choose to swimming because it sounded fun and relaxing. I took lessons when I was living in Irvine until around seven when I decided to join a club team and start swimming competitively. This put me in a completely different environment than I was used to because we did actual workouts and sets instead of floating around for thirty minutes. I made lots of friends on the team and instantly liked it better as compared to swim lessons. Racing against my teammate both during practice and at meets encouraged me to compete hard and drop my times. The swim strokes that I am good at have changed over the years, but currently I like swimming short course Freestyle and Butterfly. Swimming is lots of fun because of the competitive environment and the team bonding I experience during relays and whilst cheering for my friends. My personal goals are to swim at the collegiate level and to gain a college degree.
