Devin Trujillo '15 Recruiting Profile

Well I have been a dedicated swimmer ever since I was eleven years old. I had played many sports even before then, but I was fairly limited by my asthma. I also was never the most fit child either. Before when I was really young, I was fit and active, but once I became about nine to eleven years old I had become a little “fluffy” over the years. I was still active trying to find the right sport for me and deal with my asthma. Until one day my pediatrician recommended my parents to put me on a swim team. I had always loved the water with a great passion and always wanted to swim in my free time, but for recreation. Ironically I was opposed to the idea of swimming on a team competitively. I only wanted to swim for fun. Then my parents said if I enjoyed it then I can stay and continue to swim, if not then I can get off of the club team they put me in. Ever since I loved swimming, both recreationally, and more importantly, competitively now. It was certainly one of the best decisions of my life since I was able to get a substantial amount of exercise and cope with my asthma. It has gotten to the point where I am no longer limited by my asthma by any means. I have overcome it and have ultimately changed and improved my life farther than I could have ever imagined. Swimming has undeniably changed my life for better. Once I swam competitively, I dedicated myself to it and worked hard. I begun to get faster and faster, and my body took a drastic change as I began to get in better and better shape. Now all because of my hard work in the pool, I can say that I have transformed my body and have significantly changed and improved my life forever. Due to the great opportunities and changes swimming has brought to my life, I am a very dedicated, hardworking, swimmer that is very committed to this sport. Ever since, I have been constantly swimming year round for club for the past eight years, and now for high school for the past three years and soon to be my final and fourth year.
