Personal Statement
My Name is Nicholas Salzone I am a Jr. at Bishop Verot High School in Fort Myers Florida. I have been swimming competitively since I was 7 years old in New York. I have been a part of varsity swim team since 8th grade, club teams and summer leagues consecutivily since I began to swim.
My family relocated to Florida the summer after my Sophomore year (5 months ago). Moving was a big change for me and my swimming career, I was able to overcome what I thought was the worst thing to happen in my life. In fact, it helped me so much. I have improved greatly in a short amount of time. I have increased my commitment to swimming from 6 to 9 practices per week by swimming before and after school. I have volunteered my time in the following areas, teaching kids to swim for 3 consecutive summers, special olympics in NY for 4 years and currently volunteer at Habitat for Humanity as well as an assisted living facility in Cape Coral. Before leaving NY I was a lifeguard at the high school pool.
I realize that swimming on the college level takes a lot of hard work and dedication combined with academics but I am totally committed. I LOVE the sport and I have never known my life without swimming as a part of it and I am prepared for the challenge.
