Jared Kuchar '22 Recruiting Profile

My name is Jared Kuchar. I started swimming competitively when I was 8 years old for our local park district team SUSA. I started swimming for my love of being around anything with water. I had a great first coach who made practices fun and challenging. Because of her, I quickly fell in love with the sport. I have been swimming for Coach Alex at Spy Typhoons for the past two years after transferring from the Academy Bullets

At the age of 14, I was diagnosed with Shingles in my left leg which kept me from excercising or swimming for several months. I had to work extra hard on getting stronger and back into racing shape since this diagnosis. This summer, I started lifting weights for the first time. I have already seen results by beating my best times from last season in three events. 

In my spare time, I am working as a certified Life guard at the local YMCA. I enjoy building and upgrading computers. I also enter fishing tournaments with my grandpa. 

It is my hope that, if given the opportunity to swim at the collegiate level, I can help the team win a championship and qualify for nationals in my respective event of relay. I believe in achieving these goals will help me grow as not only a competitor, but it will allow me to attain the necessary skills and tools to achieve my goals in the future.
