I started swimming when I was 10 years old. My two sisters had been swimming and I hated just watching them swim. I am not a sit around kind of person. I started swimming in club and 4 months later I swam at USA Swimming Age Group State for the Short Course season. I made it to state again in the Long Course season the same year. These swims qualified me for my first Zone Cut, 9 months after I started. I didn't know much about swimming when I began so I knew that if I kicked I would keep moving. I kept progressing with hard work. I was on a small club team and I was the only one that attended State or Zones for 4 years. I had to learn to push myself because I didn't have someone there to push me faster in the water. I learned that it was up to me and how hard I worked. I have attended every USA Swimming Age Group State Championship and qualified for finals and top finishes every season. I have learned the value of hard work, respect and dedication. In high school I have been Conference MVP and even qualified for IHSAA State Championship as a sophomore. I intend to work hard and make it to State Championships in multiple events in my junior and senior year. I can set goals and work to achieve them. I have balanced good grades, participated in Cross Country, Swim, and Track every year in high school even while holding a part time job. I want to be a part of a college team where I would be a valuable contribution to the team. I am one of 9 children in my family and they are very important to me. I say this to emphasize the importance of being a part of a team family and doing my part. I also have dreams to become an engineer either a mechanical, civil, or achitectural. I know I would have to work hard, and balance my time to be a college athlete.
