Personal Statement
At Shawnee Mission East High School, I have demonstrated that I am a very hard worker, both academically and athletically. I am a member of the National Honor Society, I have a cumulative weighted GPA of 4.5, and I never back down from challenging classes such as Advanced Placement classes and honors courses. My freshman year, I was also awarded the rank of Eagle Scout. I am also a member of both the drum line here at East and the high-level symphonic band, as well as a member of the school choir. Athletically, I have been an extremely hard worker in the pool, almost never missing practices and working as hard as I can to constantly improve.
In the 2015-16 season, at the Sunflower League Championship, I was on the winning medley relay team (swimming butterfly), I was the 50 freestyle champion, placed second in the 100 yard backstroke, and was a member of the league record-breaking 4x100 freestyle relay which also won. I was named 1st Team All-Sunflower League. At the Kansas 6A State Championship, I was a member of the medley relay and 4x100 free relay, both of which placed 3rd, and also placed 4th and 5th in the 100 yard backstroke and 50 yard freestyle, respectively, as well as named 2nd Team All-State. Out of season, I participated in meets such as Region VIII Sectionals and Junior National Championship in Orlando, Florida.
All of this proves that time and time again that I never back down from challenges and am also a very hard worker. I believe that this trend will continue into my collegiate career. I believe that I would be a valuable asset to any college swim team, and I will work hard to be a team player wherever I choose to go. I also know that I have much room for improvement as an athlete, and am willing to work extremely hard to be the best swimmer I can possibly be.
