Personal Statement
I am a hard-working, Christian, student-athlete. I am the Senior Drum Major of the 140+ member Marching Cougar Pride. I have been the captain of my school's swim team for the past 2 years and hope to continue to be this coming season. I am a coach for Turner swim team and work with 8 to 12-year-olds and this experience has allowed me to have much more respect towards all my teachers and coaches. I love to swim and I always look forward to my practices. Even when I come home and can't lift my arms I still want to get back at it. I love the adrenaline of sprint races. I don't like to save energy. I want to always give my best effort the entire time, which is why I sprint. I will be swimming below 20 seconds this year. This is my goal and I am going to do everything to get there.
I was 1 of 2 students selected in my school to be on a strategic action team planning committee for the Shawnee Mission School district. My principal and athletic director made this decision. In my free time, when I have any, I work on 3D modeling and mechanical engineering design. I have been working on recreating the famous Star Wars droid, BB-8. It is completely built from the ground up from my own brain with no instructions. This past year I won a grand award at our district's Research and Development forum for a 3D CAD design and award in woodworking. I attend a special program at the Center for Academic Achievement for my district that is only available to certain students.
I am also involved with my church's youth program that caters to low-income students in the community. My faith is the most important thing for me.
