Personal Statement
As far as can remember, I always loved to be in or near the water. This includes not just swimming, but scuba diving, surfing, and wakeboarding. Ever since I was seven years old, I loved swimming competitively. This sport allowed me to made strong bonds with others, and bonds strong enough to call them family. The relationships that I made through this sport helped me grow as a person.
I am very lucky to be part of teams that not only challenged me athletically but made me feel part of a different type of family. I learned how to value supporting others and helping them achieve their goals. As they say, "Teamwork makes the dream work". The rigor of five-in-the-morning practices with keeping a high GPA taught me the discipline and time management to be a student-athlete. I also have an optimistic view of the world that will spread to my teammates. The skills and lessons that I have learned as being an athlete have molded me into a great student-athlete. I believe I will be a great addition to your team as an athlete and teammate, and as a scholar at your school.
