Over my years of swimming, I have learned that when there is a positive atmosphere surrounding my teammates and I, I perform my best in addition to having the most fun. This fact was fully realized at the ISCA Summer Senior Championships going into my sophomore year because my team rallied around our friend Charlie who had recently suffered severe burns and could not swim at this meet. During the meet, my team and I performed extremely well and had lots of fun supporting our friend, which has led me to the conclusion that a positive team atmosphere is a serious contributor to my success. This results in making my main goal in college to find camaraderie through my team and classmates in order to better myself and others.
I strive to create a constructive, welcoming environment in both swimming and classroom settings that reveal the most potential from myself and peers. I enjoy leading others by setting an example in the classroom, guiding my section as 1st trumpet in various bands, and by being a positive influence on my swim teammates. I want to bring this positive attitude with me to college because I have realized the immeasurable impact it has in any situation and I desire to bring it to greater heights.
