Personal Statement
Swimming in college has been one of my largest goals since I began the sport when I was nine years old. I love the sport of swimming because of the emphasis it has on the individual as well as the team. When I am in practice or at meets, you can always see me cheering and motivating teammates in addition to focusing on personal improvement. My coaches have also recognized my leadership abilities as I was named captain of both my club training group and high school team.
Over the years, I have worked really hard at maintaining a good balance between academics, swimming, and extracurricular activities. I also know that what you do out of the pool is just as important as what you do in the pool.
Beyond swimming, academics are also very important to me. I currently have a 4.27 GPA and rank 26th out of a class of 239 students. I have taken numerous honors classes and continue to challenge myself with AP classes this year. I am proud to have been recently accepted into the National Honor Society.
I also try to serve my community in the best ways possible. I am active in my local church which includes a seat on the parish council. I am also a part of the Teen TASK Force (taking a stand for kids) through the local non-profit Children’s Cove. This is a program that raises awareness about various forms of child abuse.
In closing, I am looking for a college that will help me grow as an individual, student, and athlete. I will continue to give 100% of my effort whether it’s at school or in the pool. I am very excited about this next step in my life.
