Unlike many fellow competitors at this level, I haven’t been swimming since early childhood. I began my swim career fairly late in the game, when I joined my 7th grade swim team at age 13. Because of my height and long reach/pull in the water, I had a bit of success which prompted my interest in the sport. Upon completing the season, I began training with a local club team year-round. As I now conclude my third full year of swimming competitively, I’ve been fortunate to have achieved many personal and team goals which include being named rookie of the year on my HS team, going all state in the 400 freelay, HS state cuts in the 50, 100, 200 and 500 free, 100 fly and 200 IM, several sectional cuts, and being invited into the elite “senior blue” group at Club Wolverine in Ann Arbor, MI, just to name a few. I’m constantly assessing personal goals, and right now they include securing futures cuts in the 200 and 500 free, along with going all-state in those 2 individual events at HS States in March 2024. The best part is that I am still in love with the sport, and so hungry to continue pressing toward my full potential.
Swimming is my passion, so my ideal college would include finding a team and a coach that will challenge me both inside and outside the water. My HS experience is teaching me how to be a leader. I get to encourage my teammates with a positive attitude, help them stay in the lane mentally, and find time to laugh in the pool and locker room too. Therefore, it’s important for me to find a team that has strong mentors to guide the underclassman as well as provide the opportunity to grow into leaders. Swimming is a tremendous individual sport and I love training with my club team. The energy and camaraderie I experienced on my HS team created an environment where I thrived. The challenge to push for something bigger than just myself- for the TEAM- I found I could always dig deeper for. The pressure to pull in as the relay anchor or come through on that last split in an individual event is a feeling second to none. I love being part of a team and will rise to any challenge if afforded the opportunity.
I encourage you to check me out on swimcloud.com and swimmingrank.com.
