Swimming has been the main focus of my life ever since I was a kid. I began swimming competitively at the age of five for the local club. I have swam with a few different teams since then, every season falling more in love with the sport, both as an individual and with the teams I have been associated with. A goal that I have been working towards is to swim competitively in college. I feel my positive vibe and competitive nature would be a great fit at the collegiate level. I believe I have untapped potential and I’m looking forward to finding a great team to show that potential.
There are many reasons why I have chosen swimming as my sport. These reasons include having lots of great teammates and friends, and that it’s simply fun to swim and race those friends. However, the biggest reason that keeps me coming back is the constant drive to get better and better. The competitive motivation to always be better than everyone else is a huge justification for always trying as hard as I possibly can with whatever I do. The constant need to be the best and always working myself to the absolute limit is what makes me a great leader for every team that I’m a part of.
Since swimming with my high school team I have earned many awards that have reinforced my drive to constantly better myself in and out of the water. I have been on the varsity team since seventh grade, most recently voted the Most Valuable Player, recognizing my drive to inspire myself and the team that eventually leads to victory. I like to believe that my coaches always see the hard work that I always put in, however, I know that isn’t always the case. Whether or not my efforts are being seen doesn’t matter all that much to me. All that matters is that my sweat in practice will lead to success during races.
